MAY 27TH

May 27th is a Nollywood short film directed by Smart Edikan and funded by Dr Linda Iheme with settings shut in Nigeria and Canada. The movie  exposes the unraveled story of “rape” as suffered by women and men in local communities and inner cities with a focus on how this matter affects the grassroots where there is no proper media coverage on how to mitigate the mayhem. Just like HAMMER, May 27th also identifies a societal issue and suggests plausible ways to curb the situation. See the movie

The film has had several movie award nominations since its release from different film festivals in different countries – Canada, Nigeria, Kenya and others, including Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival, Africa International Film Festival, Lake International PanAfrican Film Festival and others. In October 2022, ‘MAY 27TH’ won Best Short Film – African in Canada at Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival.
